Progress Report - July 2011

We had a fantastic time at The Fleece on Thursday supporting our friends The Reasoning. I guess there were around 100 people there, maybe a few more, including some very old friends of mine, some of whom I hadn't seen for close on twenty years. The set went down very well, in particular the tracks from Think Of The Children.

Speaking of the new album, most of our Also Eden time recently has been spent gradually converting demos into the finished articles. We're fortunate enough to be able to work in the same kind of way as established, full-time bands, so it's a gradual process that began last June with jam sessions, lyric writing, then cataloguing of ideas, arranging them into a prototype order... an enforced gap... recording of demo parts, addition of electronic drums and then, as mentioned, a long process of replacing the guide tracks with the real thing.

Over the last couple of weekends, Lee has recorded all of his drum parts - straight into the existing Cubase demos - with comments, coffee, sandwiches and bad jokes supplied by the rest of the band, in Ian's kitchen.

Now it's on to Bruiser and Si's bass and guitar parts, recorded remotely whilst Ian's on his hols, and then I'll be adding final candidate vocals when he's back.

We'll also be taking some time to perform on Friday 5th August at the Cambridge Rock Festival, and then headlining a gig at The Louisiana in Bristol on August 25th, supported by our friends Dark Energy, and Howard Sinclair, where we may add to the three tracks from Think Of The Children that we currently have in the set.
