I started to play drums at the age of nine, after watching two of my favourite drummers of all time, Stewart Copeland and Buddy Rich.
At the age of eleven, I played as part of a three-piece covers band with my father and sister.
From the age of 14 to 16, I studied percussion at the Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.
I joined my first band (outside the family trio), Sercus, in 1989. We played both original material and cover songs performing numerous gigs around the Gwent and Cardiff area, and in 1990 we recorded an EP and a single.
I left Sercus and joined The Bootfreaks (who later become Ether, and signed to Parlophone – without me of course!).
In January 1994, I moved (for a brief while – 8 months) to London to study drums with Bob Armstrong. Although I returned home to South Wales I continued to study with Bob for a further three years.
During this period of time, I played for two covers bands – Pipedream and Big Macs Wholly Soul Band.
I took a hiatus from playing live for a few years, although I performed some high profile gigs at Birmingham Symphony Hall and the Birmingham NIA as part of a “House Band” alongside Cliff Hall (former keyboard player from The Shadows) and Colin Farley (bass player from Cutting Crew).
I returned to playing covers with Sidewinder and The Alliance, and in addition to this, played a handful of gigs with Kee Marcello (former guitarist with the Swedish rock band, Europe).
I joined Also Eden in February 2011.
